An Overview of the Online Directory

What is the Kenyon Alumni Association Online Directory?
The Kenyon Alumni Association Online Directory is a password-protected and
secured web site, accessible only by alumni of Kenyon College to improve
communication between alumni and the College. After you are verified as an
alumna or alumnus, and register with the community, you are able to log in at
any time to update your personal information or search for contact information
on alumni friends.

Do I need to be a member of the Kenyon Alumni Association or pay a
fee to access the Kenyon Alumni Association Online Directory?

No. There is no fee to access the online services. If you attended Kenyon
College for at least two semesters, you are automatically a member of the
Kenyon Alumni Association.

What types of searches can I perform?
Using the basic or advanced search options, you can search for fellow alumni
using a variety of criteria: city, state, zipcode, academic major, fraternity,
occupation, or advanced degrees.

Registration

How do I use the directory the first time?
Before you can begin using the directory, you must complete the simple, four-
step "registration for new users" described below:

  1. Validate your identity.
    You must validate your identity the first time you visit the Kenyon
    Alumni Online web site. You will be prompted for your last name and ID
    number. Your ID number is a unique identification number that you
    should have received in the mail from the Kenyon Alumni Association.
    If you have lost this identification number or you never received the
    mailing, you may request your number by emailing
    help@alumni.kenyon.edu. In your email, please include your last name,
    year of graduation, and home address. Your identification number will
    be emailed to you within two working days.
  2. Create your new username and password.
    Upon registering for the first time, you will be prompted to create a new
    username and password.
  3. Select a password hint and answer.
    You will be asked to select a password hint. Once you have selected the
    hint, you will be asked to type in the answer. If later you should lose or
    forget your password or username, this hint will be used to help you
    obtain them via email.
  4. Read and accept policy agreement.
    Please review the Kenyon Online Services Policy to learn about proper
    use of and cause for removal from the system. You will be asked to
    agree to the terms set forth in the policy to complete your registration
    process.

I tried to register, but there is no record match for the information I
entered. What should I do?

Check your name and identification number carefully. If you do not detect an
error in the information you submitted, but you still get a failed registration
message, please email us at help@alumni.kenyon.edu and supply your name,
personal identification number, year of graduation, telephone number, and
email address.

Logging in

How do I log in to Kenyon Alumni Association Online Services after I
have become a registered user?

On the directory home page, click on the "Returning User Login" button. Type
your username and password into the appropriate boxes and click on
"Submit."

What do I do if I get a login error?
The login information you have entered does not match the College's records.
First, make certain that you have registered. If you did not register the first
time you visited the Kenyon Alumni Directory web site, you will not be allowed
to log in. If you are a registered user but are still unable to log in, carefully
check your username and password for typographical errors. Correct any
errors and resubmit your username and password. If you have forgotten
either your username or your password, please click on "Lost Username or
Password" and follow the instructions. If you believe that you received the
"Kenyon Alumni Association Online Directory Login Error" message in error,
please email us at help@alumni.kenyon.edu.

Can I change my username and password?
At any time you will be able to log in to Kenyon Alumni Association Online
Services and change your password through the "Update my profile" web
page. Your username, however, will not change.

Update your profile and alumni directory

What is my profile?
Your profile is your personal contact information page that is on file with the
Kenyon Alumni Association. It includes your name, year of graduation, major,
home and business address, telephone numbers, and the email address that
you have supplied the College. Once you have registered, you have the
opportunity to update this information or remove it from view.

Can other alumni view the information I provide? What if I do not
 want my information displayed?

The Kenyon Alumni Association has made every effort to provide you with the
flexibility to share as much or as little information as you wish. The information
you provide is kept for the College's records and is not shared with anyone
except alumni who use Kenyon Alumni Association Online Services or who own
a print directory. At your discretion, you may immediately remove selected
information from the online directory. Simply check the boxes marked "do not
display" located on your "Update my profile" page. If an alumna or alumnus
searches for your record, any information you chose to exclude by checking
the box is not viewable. If you make a mistake or change your mind about
removing any information from view, just uncheck the box. The changes you
make in the "do not display" boxes take place immediately.

Can I change my name, home, business address, or other
information?

Yes. You can update all contact information online on the "Update my profile"
page. Enter the correct information in the fields. When you have made any
necessary changes or additions to your profile click submit. Note: Your
changes should appear in the online directory in two weeks.

Privacy/security/abuses

Who has access to the Kenyon Alumni Association Online Directory?
Only alumni of Kenyon, verified against the College's records by name and
identification number, will receive access to the directory. Outside vendors and
other non-alumni will be denied access to alumni information.

How secure is my information?
The Kenyon Alumni Association has taken every effort to ensure that individual
privacy is protected. The site is technologically secure and password-
protected, and it is intended strictly for the purpose of personal interaction
between alumni and the College.

Will alumni who abuse the online community be penalized?
Yes. Abusers of the directory will be removed from the online community
permanently.
